Why Do I See a Black Screen After Boot?

A black screen after boot is usually caused by display driver issues, hardware problems, or startup errors. It can also happen due to loose connections or system file corruption.

How to Fix It

  1. Restart Your Computer
Restart your system to fix temporary glitches.
  2. Check Display Connections
Ensure all cables (HDMI, VGA, power) are properly connected.
  3. Disconnect External Devices
Remove USB devices and external hardware, then restart your PC.
  4. Use Keyboard Shortcut to Refresh Screen
Press Ctrl + Shift + Windows Key + B to restart the graphics driver.
  5. Boot into Safe Mode
Start your PC in Safe Mode to check if the issue is caused by drivers or software.
  6. Update or Reinstall Display Drivers
Go to Device Manager and update or reinstall your graphics driver.
  7. Try an External Monitor
Connect your PC to another screen to check if the display is faulty.
  8. Run Startup Repair
Go to Advanced Options and select Startup Repair.

Tip
Keep your display drivers updated and avoid improper shutdowns to prevent this issue.
